Who to Elect

The Philippines will vote for its next President on May 9, 2016, and also other officials down to Barangay level.

When I first learned about the final list of candidates for the President, I thought: “there was not so much of a choice”. But I also thought that there’s still time to get to know them so I assured myself that I will be able to choose the right candidate. I also scheduled the month of April for me to start praying for whoever God would want to lead the country.

When April came, I started praying. At that time, I was also reading the book of Leviticus and God was instructing Israel to be careful with how they live, not like the nations around them – they were told to live a holy life because God is holy. Then I asked myself: “which of the candidates can lead us to live like this?”

Now, with only ten (10) days left, I am still praying that God would reveal to me and also to all the Filipinos the right person who should be the president of the country.

– 1 Timothy 2:1

“I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

Listen

“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.” (Psalm 95:1,3,5)

Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Knowing that God is a great God, He is all powerful and sovereign. So let us not forget what He has done and what He can do.

For we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. Let us continue to live and give Him glory. Do what is right and follow the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Let us be sensitive and listen to His guidance.

Remembering God

They say that to be able not to forget, we should always be reminded.

When we see people around us who are arrogant, selfish and they do evil things yet they prosper; violence happen and people get killed; when we go through struggles and think we could not overcome them.

Sometimes we do not see God’s presence in our lives and His work to stop evil.

We might have slipped and lost our faith … But how can we forget?

Let us cry out to God for help. When we are in distress, let us seek the Lord.

“I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago … Your ways, O God are holy. What god is so great as our God?You are the God who performs miracles; You display your power among the peoples. With Your mighty arm You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.” (Psalm 77:11, 13-15)

Thank You Lord!

God Still Cares

Many people say that they do not believe in God because of the evil things happening around us like fierce men conspiring against people who does not do anything wrong.

The Bible says that God can see them and “…laugh at them; You scoff at all those nations.” Psalm 59:8

He can be our strength, we can watch for Him, God our fortress, our loving God. He will go before us. I believe in His word for He is faithful & He will fulfill His purpose for us. So let us fully trust Him because He knows everything. He has plans for everyone who has faith in Him – to be with Him for eternity in heaven

God Is Awesome!

Praise God! Let us praise God in our life, in every situation, because He is continuously moving for us.

Let us clap our hands; shout to God with cries of joy, for He is awesome. God has ascended amid shouts of joy. Sing praises to God for He is the King of all the earth. (based from Psalm 47)

Thank You God.

This is very applicable nowadays, especially about the earthquake in Nepal and other calamities in many different places.

I know that we cannot control them but we can still take care of our environment. Whatever happens, we may not see or feel it but God is our only hope. I believe that He is faithful & true to His word. He is able to protect all those who believe Him.

“God is refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The Lord Almighty is with us. ‘Be still and know that I Am God.'” (Psalm 46:1-3,7,10)

You Are Blessed!

“Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.”                                    (Psalm 32:1)

Our sins have been forgiven through Jesus Christ when He died on the cross so that we don’t have to go to hell – if we would just believe in Him. Let us surrender our life to Him and accept Jesus as Savior & Lord because we all need a to be saved, we cannot do it on our own.

Confess your sins and invite Him in your life so that you can start anew. Follow God as you read His word, the Bible.

“Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. for day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord’ – and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to You while You may be found.”                                                                                       (Psalm 32:2-6)

The Plagues of Exodus Chapters 7 – 12

Today is Sunday, April 12 and this is the sermon I heard about in our church.

You may know the story of Moses when he was sent by God back to Egypt to lead Israel out from bondage of slavery.

The Lord said to Moses that he had to say everything He commanded him – to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.

One of the purposes God sent the plagues to Egypt is so that He will be known, especially by the Egyptians and maybe also by the other people in the countries nearby. Because He is the one true God, He can move with mighty acts of judgment among those who do not believe Him. Since Egypt have many idols or small gods, the Lord made Himself known through these things, using it as He sent the plagues:

1. Because Nile River was very important to the Egyptians and it has many uses, they worship it as a god named Hapi. God turned it to blood.

2. They look at frogs as a sign of fertility and they have a god of frogs named Heget. So God plagued the whole country with frogs.

3. They also idolizes comfort and they have a fly god named Vatchit. So the Lord turned the dust into gnats and also sent flies after.

4. Egyptians also have a cow god named Hathor that is why God plagued their livestock

5. They put so much importance on their health (but of course, it is not a sin to be concerned with it) so festering boils broke out on men and animals throughout the land.

6. Egyptians have a sky god named Nut that they trust with the weather so God sent hailstorm.

7. They have a harvest god named Osiris so God brought locusts to devour their crops.

8. Egyptians worship the sun (Re – sun god) and darkness spread over Egypt.

9. Lastly, every firstborn son in Egypt died.

We might think that God is very cruel because of this but we can see His great love for us when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He wants us to know Him personally, to be involved in our life and to be with Him eternally in heaven. We just have to really believe in Him and trust him with our life, accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord and live for Him.

But we might think that we don’t need Him because we are intelligent, we can run our own life, we are healthy. Whatever the reason, let us not harden our heart. There is no other god but Him and to love Him with all our heart, understanding and all all our strength is the greatest of all.
